ReflexMail

ReflexMail is a website utility to verify, save and mail form submissions. It is a resurrection of the discontinued NetDreams FlexMail as a complementary component for Interaction. Reflexmail allows webmasters to use FlexMail files as is with few or no modifications.

NetDreams closed its doors effective March 1st 2000, and are thus no longer supporting FlexMail. The reason is that CJ Holmes of NetDreams has decided to devote all of his working hours to improve WebStar. While his choice is beneficial for the Mac web community, it leaves FlexMail users in a void. ReflexMail provides continuity for FlexMail.

ReflexMail not only replicates FlexMail, but goes far beyond in functionality by allowing you to take advantage of Interactions many features in FlexMail pages. For example, you can use XML markup or insert dynamic content from Interaction in mail templates, response markup and error feedback.

Installing the ReflexMail Component

  1. Download the ReflexMail archive.
  2. Unstuff the archive (most browsers will do this for you).
  3. Find the appropriate version of the component in the folder that best matches your version of Interaction.
  4. Put the component file in the Components folder of Interaction
  5. Restart Interaction to activate the component.

After restarting Interaction, you can create new FlexMail locations from the menu:

  1. Choose New Location from the File menu of Interaction.
  2. Select FlexMail as the location type, and type in a name (e.g. "flex"). Click OK to create the location.
  3. Save the location document, eventually after making your own changes.
  4. Access the location from a web browser. Fill in the default form and submit it. The component will post an email and save the submission in files.

Import existing FlexMail files by using Import from the File menu, by dropping the files onto the Locations dialog, or by using copy/paste into new FlexMail locations.

Note that Interaction's Preferences for Mail have to be properly configured. If not, postings will remain in the Outgoing Mail folder without ever getting sent.
