Remote Update Location

Remote Update Location facilitates that a location is recached remotely using Netscape.

This component is useful when you upload files directly to the Documents folder of Interaction or in other ways remotely edit the files in the Documents folder without going through Interaction. Modifications not done through Interaction may cause stale content in the Cache Database, resulting in that the pages of the site no longer reflect the latest changes. After a remote update Interaction will be up to speed with the latest modifications to the documents.

Installing the Remote Update Location Component

  1. Download the Remote Update Location archive.
  2. Unstuff the archive (most browsers will do this for you).
  3. Find the appropriate version of the component in the folder that best matches your version of Interaction.
  4. Put the component file in the Components folder of Interaction
  5. Restart Interaction to activate the component.

After installing the component, any location can be updated by enforcing a refresh with the browser. With Netscape 2.0 and later, this is accomplished by holding down the option key of the Mac while clicking the Reload button of the browser or choosing Super Reload from the menu. Other browsers may require that you hold down the shift key while choosing reload to enforce refresh. Note that some versions of Internet Explorer don't support the super reload command.
